IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OFFICERS WHO HAVE REACHED THE AGE OF 55 YEARS DURING THE TIME CAPITA WERE PENSION PROVIDERS
An earlier Branch circulation advised that some officers may have not received an increase to their pension when reaching the age of 55 due to an error by the pension administrators CAPITA  when handing over to Kier. This has be evident in other force areas which CAPITA were pension administrators.
Having queried this with Mr Peter Skelton the Head of Gloucestershire Constabulary Finance he has advised me that Kier has been tasked to review and all officers who reached  reached 55 years of age during the time CAPITA were the administrators to check whether their pension is correct. There apparently have been a number of issues with the information transferred from Capita and  report will be made to the next South West Police Pensions Board in October at which NARPO will be represented. in the mean time officers who fall into this category should check their pension payment to ensure they had the entitled increase and if not contact Kier.
In addition to the information above I have now been advised today by Mr Peter Skelton -

KIER IS TO SELL THEIR PENSIONS UNIT
MR SKELTON WRITES
- As you will be aware Kier took over the administration for the police pension schemes in February, and have provided a much improved service since then. Kier have an office in Middlesbrough which provides the administration for 28 police forces. KIER have recently announced that they are to sell their Pensions Unit to XPS Pension a dedicated pensions business, with a significant administration capability.XPS have told us that “our approach to the acquisition is very much one of maintaining business as usual, there will be no change to systems, personnel, location, services or terms & conditions. It is very important to us that we maintain the positive relationship you have at present and build on it as we progress. We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver high quality pensions administration to our clients and their members, and it is clear that these are values that are equally as important to the Kier Pensions teams.”We will provide more information on the change when we have it”. In the meantime you should continue to use the current contact information and you should not see any change in the service provided to you.
