Gloucestershire Archives Family Request – Caroline Symes
Family Request for Information:
To all NARPO members
I am Sue Webb and I am the lead researcher for the Gloucestershire Constabulary Archives. We often receive request from relatives of former and serving police officers regarding family histories.
I am currently working on a query from a member of the family of a Caroline Symes a PC who died falling from her horse in 1977. We are asking for help from all former members of the Gloucestershire Constabulary who are now NARPO members.
Our plea is to ask if any of the NARPO members might have knowledge of Caroline or might have served with her or have any photographs or memories they would like to share with the family?
They specifically asked if:
- anyone knew her collar number as it does not appear in the records that remain and is not clear on her warrant card photograph (attached) what this was.
- if there were pictures in private hands that she appears in
- also someone said that there had been a painting on display in one of the police stations of her but no one knows anything else about it or where it ended up.
If you have any information about Caroline and the above request or wish to share any memories about her then please contact me:
